High in the soaring mountains of Honduras, in the Intibuca department, the town of San Juan lies in the center of the Lenca Route. This ancient trail snakes along the western edge of the country, giving travelers a taste of rugged mountainsides, indigenous tradition, and the rich culture of coffee cultivation that defines this portion of the country. Even if you never get the opportunity to wander along the Lenca Route yourself, you can still savor the flavors Honduras has to offer in every sip of this Arrosto Honduras San Juan Intibuca single origin whole bean coffee! This coffee is grown by a cooperative of 4 farms that are committed to preserving the delicate ecosystem where this coffee is grown by amending their soil with organic matter instead of chemical fertilizers and using water efficiently to conserve this precious resource. You can savor this coffee with peace of mind, knowing that it tastes great and is great for the planet, too!
Cultivated at 1,980 meters above sea level in the towering Merendon mountain range, this coffee takes longer to mature than beans grown at lower elevations. These high-altitude growing conditions allow the coffee beans to develop more robust, complex flavor and result in fewer imperfections. Once this coffee has matured to perfection, it is carefully hand-harvested, washed to remove the cherry that surrounds the bean, then dried in the warm, tropical sunshine. The result is a remarkable coffee with tasting notes of rich caramel, sweet stone fruit, and a lingering dark cocoa finish. The roasty, balanced body of this coffee makes it a great choice for your daily morning cup and special occasions alike!
Medium Roast:These coffee beans are roasted to medium to highlight this coffee's rich, complex profile.
Whole Bean Format:The whole bean format of this coffee offers you flexible preparation options, allowing you to brew the perfect cup for any occasion.
This coffee's medium roast level is ideal for French press or espresso brewing methods. Using a French press to brew this coffee is a wonderful way to highlight the mellow caramel and dark chocolate notes from the long, slow roasting process! Grind the beans coarsely and pour just enough water heated to 205 degrees Fahrenheit over them to saturate all the grounds. Allow this slurry to bloom for 30 to 40 seconds before filling your French press all the way up and allowing it to steep for 3 to 4 minutes before plunging the grounds down. To truly amplify the robust and roasty flavor of this coffee, use it to create rich espresso! Grind the beans finely, press them into your espresso machine's filter, then wait while your machine pulls a delicious shot of espresso! No matter how you choose to prepare it, serving this Arrosto Honduras San Juan Intibuca coffee in your establishment is a testament to your discerning taste that will keep your patrons coming back for more!
